Data Easel
Inspired by a participatory installation that Easydataviz posted on their social media last year, I designed and built this "survey easel" to engage students at DIS' concluding event in December. In contrast to my previous build, I imagined this easel to be as open-ended as possible so that faculty could adapt it for their courses throughout the semester as well.
Here are some features that I like:
• Both the front and back have a custom dry erase surface that is also magnetic.
• The front has the same dimensions as an A1-sized piece of paper.
• The legs fold up and lock with latches, and two handles bolted to the side make the easel portable.
The following semester, students in the Design Thinking course brought it outside for the first time to informally poll pedestrians, literally using the city as their classroom!
