Knotted Narrative

As my first project at DIS, I designed and fabricated a participatory installation for the DIS Festival, a concluding event when DIS Stockholm reflects on the previous four months and looks ahead to what comes next. “Knotted Narrative” asks students, faculty, and staff to physically connect these timelines by responding to a series of prompts with string. Then, they step back to observe what the rest of the community’s trajectories look like. The project is inspired by “Data Strings” from Domestic Data Streamers, but it includes a feature of my own creation—an inlaid corkboard on which participants can write how they feel in this moment of transition and integrate this emotion into their narrative using the same thread.
